The easiest way would be, of course, to call a satellite dish installer and ask him to install your dish and point it to AsiaSat 4 satellite (122.0 degrees E, frequency 4120, horizontal polarization, bitrate 27500, vitebri rate 3/4, enter here to see the full list of TV channels transmitted from AsiaSat 4)

But if you wish to install it on your own, then read on.

1. Assemble the antenna

2. Mount it firmly on your roof, so that it is not blown away with the wind and alignment to the satellite is not disturbed

3. Deternime your exact geographical location, latitude and longitude, use a map to find this information

4. Click here to enter latitude and longitide in the online calculator and get the exact elevation and azimuth for your location

5. Now, having that data in hand, you need to point your antenna to AsiaSat 4 satellite

How to do it?

Set the dish antenna vertically pointing to the true north. The dish should have a clear view to the satellite you want to point to (no trees, buildings).
The azimuth and elevation angles are the horizontal and vertical angles respectively for the antenna to point to the satellite. The azimuth is in clockwise direction from the true north. The elevation is the angle for which the antenna moves upward from the horizon, pointing to the satellite. Now, apply a little intellectual effort and point it to the satellite.

6. Now set the LNB in the horizontal polarization. What is horizontal polarization?

Polarization - Correction between where the antenna is relative to the curvature of the Earth and the satellite's signal beam. The satellite signal is either Horizontal or Vertical polarized, but due to the longitude of the antenna location, the antenna's feed horn must be rotated to correctly match the beam's polarization. The following illustration will better show the relationship between azimuth, elevation, and polarization.

Polarization

The port on the LNB where the coaxial cable is being connected must be 300 to 320 degrees clockwise, that will be vertical polarization.
If that was not really clear for you, you can find the vertical polarization by installing your DVB card in the computer (go to step 9 below) and gradually turning the LNB and watching increase/decrease in signal strenth through the DVB card application software. You need to find the strongest signal LNB pozition. (It is assumed here that you have pointed the dish to the satellite correctly)

7. Prepare the coaxial cable and screw the connector on the cable end. See how to do it below.

8. Plug the cable into the LNB and take it to the DVB card in your computer (do not make the cable too long, because the signal strength decreases as the length increases, due to the increase of cable resistance).

9. Download the manual which will help you install the DVB card and configure the computer, having plugged in the cable into the DVB card (Warning - do not plug in or unplug the cable with the computer turned on, your DVB card can get damaged because of some electrical power present in the cable).
